As any other Biomedical Engineering (BME) Conference, "MEDICON 89" aims to present recent advances in practically every main topic of BME. It provides a forum of communication and exchange of ideas on Biomechanics, Bioinstrumentation, Medical Imaging, Medical Radiation Physics, Technology Assessment, Clinical Engineering, Rehabilitation Engineering, Medical Informatics, Biomaterials and Educational, Ethical and Professional Aspects.
The distinctive characteristic of "MEDICON 89" is the general information it offers on each of the main BME topics, through twelve Plenary Sessions. The twelve lectures prepared by our distinguished invited speakers and the respective discussions will update the audience in some of the most interesting BME subjects. A second characteristic is the emphasis given by the contributors to Bioinstrumentation, Biomechanics, Rehabilitation, Clinical Engineering and Informatics.
"MEDICON 89" is honored by original contributions presenting the results of research which takes place not only in the Mediterranean Countries but throughout the world.
The Editors decided to present the summaries of both the invited speeches and the papers not in a chronological but in a topical arrangement. This helps the reader in finding all the information concerning each topic in one chapter of the Proceedings.
